At Jerico, we don't believe stewardship of the environment must come with financial burden. It
is a fallacy to assert that promoting the environment is at odds with
economic prosperity. With careful consideration and strategic oversight
- environmentalism can be completely congruent with efficiency and
financial gains. Jerico strives to synergize green practices and fiscal
prudence. We have consolidated all aspects of our manufacturing
processes within Toronto. This eliminates the unnecessary shipping of
supplies across international borders, which ultimately reduces our
transport costs and carbon emissions. We use state-of-the-art knitting
machines to reduce energy consumption, our dye house uses only nontoxic
materials and our cutting and sewing departments recycle upwards of 10%
of our textile waste. Even our offices understand the correlation
between environmental concern and financial savings - we reuse all the
envelopes from our incoming mail and all our printing is done on old
invoices. Anyone who's received an order from us will notice that our
boxes don't say Jerico. That's not a mistake. We use second-hand boxes.
It saves us money and it's good for the environment. It may not be the
most glamorous way to do business, but we believe it's the right way.
